Job Description:

Our Apprentices are the future of our business. As an apprentice on our Apprentice programme you will learn all of the skills needed to become a vehicle Technician with a fantastic range of future career options.

It goes without saying that you will have a keen interest in cars and everything associated with them, but you need much more than that. Being a team player is absolutely essential, people will rely on you to be there to support the team and get involved in everything that goes on in the centre. Ensuring our customers get a great experience

During the Apprenticeship you will gain expertise not only in the technical elements of your role having a good grasp of the practical and theoretical aspects of the vehicle systems you service, but you will also learn excellent telephone, customer handling and effective sales skills, as well as strong problem solving and self-organisation skills.

You need to be determined to succeed, many of our Apprentices who have graduated from the programme have quickly progressed to more senior positions, we will be there to help you every step of the way, but you have to be prepared to work hard to achieve your goals, that will include working to improve your abilities in English and Maths too, as the ability to write and interpret reports is very important to us.

Training to be Provided:

Apprentices work towards a framework of qualifications, as follows:

• Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair competence

• Level 2 VRQ Diploma in Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair knowledge

• Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT

• Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English. In order to complete the apprenticeship, the apprentice must attend these classes and take the exams. It is not mandatory for the apprentice to pass these exams.

• Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)

• Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)

Expected Duration:

24 Months

Skills Required:

Preferably a grade A* - C or 4-9 in GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.

Qualifications Required:

Personal Qualities:

• A real desire to learn as much as possible about Cars and the Autocare sector of the Motor Industry.

• Self-motivated, willing and able to take responsibility for your own learning and study.

• A Team player. You will be someone who will always go the extra mile to support your team.

• Be resilient. Someone who sticks with a task even when things are not going to plan, and won’t quit if you have a bad day.

Future Prospects:

The potential to earn a Full time position and progression within the Company

Other Important Information:

The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
