Based at the Central Campus, Brighton

We are seeking to appoint a Specialist Ceramics Technician to support teaching in our Creative Industries Department. This is a part-time role, working Fridays only. The successful candidate will be part of the specialist technician team, reporting to the Senior Technician, and will be required to safely manage the day to day running of the Ceramics studios including kilns. We welcome applications from fully trained ceramic artists who are able to demonstrate competence in the operation of all relevant equipment.  We are looking for a person with high levels of expertise and experience especially with operating and maintaining ceramics equipment and tools. Other day to day duties also include liaising with Curriculum Managers, lecturing teams and fellow technicians to ensure that the technical support and supervision of the Ceramic specialist work areas meets all the timetabled and open access needs of the students.

An important part of the role is ensuring that regulations relating to Health, Safety and College procedures are observed by staff and students. The job role also includes the effective management of consumable materials and equipment including lifting, moving and storing resources safely and the loaning of equipment.
