Main Purpose of the Apprenticeship
-------------------------------------------------------------

To learn and assist in all the operational aspects of and ensure the smooth running and exceptional customer service of the hospitality business operation. 

Duties
-------------

  • Learn and assist in the welcoming of guests to the restaurant.
  • All enquiries made in person or over the phone be handled to the high standard set out by your employer.
  • Learn and assist in the set up and maintenance of all restaurant service areas.
  • Learn and assist in the serving of meals/drinks to guests.
  • To build a good rapport with all guests and resolve any issues quickly to maintain high level customer service.
  • Learn and assist in dealing with customer complaints in an effective and courteous manner, providing or seeking solutions as quickly as possible.
  • Learn and assist in the receipt of deliveries.
  • Actively promote the unique selling point of the business and special offers and promotions available to customers.
  • Learn and assist in the operation of an effective booking and reservation system.
  • Notify the Manager or his/her deputy where stocks/supplies are low.
  • Ensure that all duties are carried out in accordance with statutory and business Health and Safety requirements, including food hygiene regulations.
  • Adhere to all business standards in every interaction with colleagues, guests, external suppliers and contacts.
  • Learn and manage payment transactions in accordance with the business policies and procedures and to handle all transactions with diligence, honesty and integrity.
  • Support colleagues at peak times and to undertake any operational duty which might be reasonably required, to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Participate, constructively, in review meetings with your line manager and your apprenticeship learning coach and to work towards objectives/goals set, and to improve any areas of performance felt necessary by your manager and your learning coach, in order to maintain an excellent level of service to customers.

Desired qualifications

Though we are not looking for specific qualifications it is important that you have a level of English, both spoken and written and maths so as to be able to maximise your learning and development experience. 

Future prospects  

On successful completion of your apprenticeship we hope to be able to offer you a full time position. 

Things to consider  

Working in hospitality is unique and varied with each day bringing you in contact with something new. 

You will also be working weekends and in some cases in the evening or early morning. If you cannot accept this then please do not waste your time applying.

The Level 2 Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship focuses on the development of ‘hospitality’ skills and knowledge including recognising customer needs, knowing how to match them to the products and services of the business and working as part of a team to ensure that every customer feels welcomed and looked after. 

You will be studying the following topics:

  • Understanding the Meaning of Hospitality
  • Behaviours & Personal Conduct Customer Service
  • Understanding the Business & Product
  • Using Technology
  • Understanding Legislative
  • Responsibilities
  • Communication methods
  • Effective Team Work
  • Food Hygiene Qualifications/Certification achieved on completion:

Level 2 Apprenticeship Certificate (Pass or Distinction grade) Level 1 Functional Skills in English and Maths (equivalent to GCSE grade D-E or level 3-2) unless exempt Delivery Information:

Learning will be split, with a mixture of work based training and being taught away from your place of work by our Hospitality Customer Experience Tutor. Further knowledge enhancement opportunities will be available including but not limited to, supplier talks and visits, experiencing another work location and knowledge enhancement trips.

Working week

Your working week will be full time with specific hours and shifts discussed at interview. If you are under 18 you will not work more than 40 hrs per week, this includes any training. Total hours per week: 40.00
