Job Details
St Barnabas House is an independent charitable hospice located in Worthing, West Sussex. We provide end of life care services, both at the hospice and in the local community, to adults with advanced progressive life-limiting conditions.
We are looking for volunteers to join our dedicated team of Community Companions.
Isolation is a big issue for many people coping with life-limiting illnesses which can also be the case for their carers. As a Community Companion volunteer, you will be helping people at a very difficult time in their lives by providing support during a weekly two hour visit.
To have someone who can pop in for a chat or lend a helping hand can make a big difference. It would also be beneficial if you are able to take patients out in your car, either for social outings or practical support, as we get a lot of requests for this.
For this role we provide two mandatory training days and ongoing support. We also ask that volunteers in this role be at least 18 years of age.
The next training dates are;
Friday 08 November 2019 and Thursday 14 November 2019 at 09:15 - 15:00.
Before this you will be offered an informal interview to assess your suitability for the role.
If this is something that would be of interest to you, please get in touch to request an application form.
