We have an exciting opportunity within our Actuarial team, for a highly numerate and analytically minded individual. You will have the support network, flexibility and guidance to develop a career and undertake your IFOA qualification. The Role This role provides analytical and actuarial pricing support to the head of modelling. Working within a team of 10, you will perform and assist in predictive modelling projects, demonstrating a combination of commercial acumen with sound analytical skills to make the most of this internal and external data. Your remit will include the following; · Working with other team members, maintain existing Models by refreshing claims data, analysing results and identifying any new trends or interactions by risk factor · Support reviews of scoring datasets (e.g. postcode, vehicle & occupation) and rating indexes (e.g. Fraud Index, ID score) · Analysis of internal and external data to make recommendations on new data items or feeds to enrich customer quotes · Compile actuarial based management information as required · Complete projects individually and in small teams, for underwriting, claims and antifraud About us Hastings Group, a FTSE 250 listed entity, is a fast growing, agile, digitally focused general insurance provider of products and services to over 2.6 million customers in the UK, employing over 3,000 colleagues. Required experience · Strong academic background with a minimum 2:1 degree in a relevant degree · Good communication skills at all levels · Inquisitive nature and ability to work efficiently · Numerically minded, coupled with an analytical approach Advantageous Experience · Experience in modelling, usage of statistical packages (e.g. R/Strata/SAS), programming skills and industry or actuarial knowledge · Knowledge of UK personal lines market · Awareness of underwriting & pricing methods and rules
