Maintenance Apprentice - Level 2  

Full Time – 37.5 hours per week

£5.00 per hour - £187.50 per week

Based at St Barnabas House

St Barnabas Hospices offers specialist palliative care through two hospices: St Barnabas House provides palliative care to adults in the Worthing, Adur, Arun and Henfield areas through a range of services, including In-patient Care, Day Hospice and Community CareChestnut Tree House is the children's hospice reaching across Sussex and South East Hampshire. Providing care and support for children/young people and their families with life-shortening conditions.

Our Maintenance Team play a vital role within the running of the hospices. We take pride in the environment in which we operate, and it is the Maintenance Apprentice responsibility to ensure that all equipment and facilities are fully functioning, keeping the safety of staff, patients and families at the forefront of everything they do.  

Essential skills and experience include:

  • Able to work on their own initiative and must have good communication skills
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety at work, manual handling
  • Ability to prioritise is essential

Key points about the programme:

  • Must have GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above, or equivalent – this can be achieved whilst doing the apprenticeship
  • Must be able to work in the UK
  • Open to anyone aged 16 or over
  • No experience required
  • You will gain an Level 2 Apprenticeship award in Building maintenance operations (Provider will be Chichester College, Chichester)
  • Programme duration is 24 months (with block release to college)

A full driving licence is desirable for this role.
