About the job

What could you do to make a difference to the lives of residents living in a Colten Care home?

As the Activity Leader of the home's Companionship team, you will be a champion for the whole home to provide a wellbeing service that is responsive to each person as an individual. You will be ensure that the residents of our care home can look forward to a calendar of activities and social events that enhance their quality of life. We know the importance of keeping our residents stimulated and engaged with the passions that mean the most to them.

Activities can be of any size from 'whole home events' through to smaller group activities and quiet, one to one sessions. You will play your part in co-ordinating, organising and delivering a range of activities to support the core needs of those living with us. We strive to use the whole environment within the home, gardens and outside spaces, at all hours of the day including weekends and evenings and include a variety of outside trips on the mini-bus.

As Activity Team Leader, you’ll be organising fair work allocation and rota's for team members, identifying requirements for support, supervision and training, planning holiday and sickness cover, monitoring the effective management of the team budget and resident records. You’ll take a leading role in meetings and be a primary representative for the team internally and externally, ensuring that the team meets the residents' needs and preferences.

The role is fun and varied; no two days are the same and you will be making a positive difference to the physical and intellectual wellbeing of residents in your care.

About you

In this role, we look for personal qualities that match our company values: friendly, kind, individual, reassuring and honest. Other essential qualities are about being flexible and approachable, with excellent communication skills and a good level of computer and keyboard skills. You will demonstrate your passion for organising, entertaining and working collaboratively with residents, their families, team members and outside partners.

You'll work with the Home Manager and Customer Service team to maintain and nurture links with the local community. We are at the heart of our communities with regular visits from professional entertainers and regularly organise fundraising and themed events for local charities.

A relevant qualification or experience in entertainment / performance is desirable but not essential.

We will support you with ongoing development, in a team-based community, with staffing levels recognised as among the best in the care sector.
