As the Senior Platform Manager for this hugely successful Financial Services giant, you be responsible for leading the cloud services team to manage a business unit’s strategic Microsoft Azure cloud platform infrastructure (Knowledge of other Cloud platforms ie. AWS, Google Cloud etc is equally acceptable), ensuring high availability/performance Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) are met and leading the design of the service delivery architecture (networking/system provisioning and configuration, platform deployment).

The Senior Platform Manager is business facing, working with stakeholders to understand their applications & systems and determining the best approach to migrating them into the Cloud - delivering IaaS & PaaS solutions and providing input & challenge for platform software engineering solutions from a deployment and system management perspective, together with guiding the Cloud Services Platform Operations team, ensuring they are focused on delivering business objectives and strategic goals.

Other Responsibilities Include:

Leading a small team of subject matter experts to design and manage the infrastructure (including capacity plan) to support the distributed product platform (Network and Systems) and be a credible leader in this discipline.

Drive the design of the service deployment architecture and environment (i.e. SCM) management policy and enforcement through monitoring, auditing and reporting systems.

Driving the use of open interfaces, platforms and reusable services to reduce effort, increase efficiencies, standardise the approach and accelerate the delivery to the application building blocks.

Accelerate and provide direction to the adoption of IT infrastructure automation and scalable cloud platforms to speed cycle times, increase availability, improve reliability engineering and the drive for continual delivery whilst ensuring the maintenance of a secure platforms and demonstrate using appropriate tools (Pen Testing, IDS, etc.)

Providing the management of platform services/infrastructure outsourced to 3rd-parties (Data centres, DNS/Geo load balancing, backbone and internet connectivity, CDN/Web acceleration). Ensuring that all business processes and internal controls within your role are designed and performed in a way that delivers good customer outcomes and demonstrates effective management of Conduct Risk.

Skills & Experience:

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with & influence senior Stakeholders, Support functions, 3rd party suppliers etc.

A strong understanding of Cloud & Infrastructure within large & complex environments is expected, and although current hands-on technical skills are not required in this role, a technical background in these technologies is hugely beneficial.

Demonstrable experience of effective Infrastructure management & reporting, and implementing consistent Infrastructure delivery and maintenance plans across complex geographical / functional matrix organizations.

Proven track record of implementing modern Infrastructure plans across large, complex, change and technology initiatives with track record of building effective relationships to ensure delivery plans are agreed & achieved.

Ensuring Infrastructure management and delivery confidence across all levels with technical and non-technical audiences.

Demonstrated ability to work independently focusing on priorities and managing a high-volume of tasks, deadlines, requirements, and decisions.

Develop, get buy-in and deliver approaches across the organisation and wider division and track record of building effective relationships.

Effective at making good decisions and delivering great outcomes in in line with the IT&T strategy.
