Senior Buyer required on a fixed term contract basis to join an industry leading engineering and manufacturing business.

As a senior buyer you will play a key role in a team that is responsible in ensuring material flow from suppliers, through stores and to production as well as out to the customer. The successful applicant for this position will join a dedicated team reporting to the materials and parts manager, the Senior Buyer plays a pivotal role in the success of the business..

Experience required:

Ensure MRP is run regularly to fulfil purchase demand
Confirm open orders with suppliers
Chase orders to committed dates
Process ECRs to ensure day to day production is kept on track
Manage supplier NCNs to obtain repaired / replacement items and seek long term corrective action for review by NCN owner
Review and approve ECOs
Review and propose PPCs to Materials and Parts Manager for approval
Solve invoice queries to ensure payments are processed and deliveries are not stopped
Work with Materials and Parts Manager to ensure supply routes for future demand. This will entail meeting with and reviewing potential suppliers, and on-boarding new suppliers in accordance with PU011 new supplier process
Have an awareness of future projects and order additional quantities in preparation
Review and amend stock levels and minimum order quantities based on usage analysis
Maintain the PU014 Approved Supplier List
Support the Materials and Parts Manager with supplier visit schedules, visits and reporting.
Support ISO IEC (phone number removed) compliance and drive it into suppliers
Contribute towards and act upon review of supplier delivery performance (as per metrics process)
Run purchasing reports and produce data for analysis as per purchasing quality procedure QP7 requirements
Leverage product and process experience within the team
Responsibility for important commodity or high value partsEssential experience:

Proven experience within purchasing
Ability to identify suitable suppliers, request quotations and chase through on quotations
Ability to source parts to meet urgent production demand, chase order confirmations and deliveries
Ability to remain calm under pressure
Ability to analyse, interpret and present data
Tenacious, flexible and proactive approach
Confident communicator
Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
