Air Personnel are delighted to support their client for a Mechanical Design engineer on a six month contract leading to a possible extension.

This is a technical design and certification role in an expanding design office. The main requirements are:

Possess good and sound aircraft engineering knowledge, in particular aerospace materials and treatments, sheet metal forming, machining, corrosion & protective finishes, composites and aerospace hardware (both metric and imperial). Also, and importantly, knowledge of how parts are installed.
The ability to ‘hit-the-ground-running’ is essential.
Production of 2D and/or 3D drawings for manufacturing, assembly and installation drawings
Working in cooperation with the engineering team to develop EASA/CAA and MoD approved design Changes for a wide range of Helicopters and Fixed wing, experience with CS23, CS27 & CS29 is essential. Large aircraft CS25 experience is not required.
Support the department’s objectives.
Attend Design review meetings as required.
Assist in the research of system and /or component specifications and assess suitability for the intended application.
Assist in the overall aircraft program or programs.
Assist in the development of new system designs.
Assist in the preparation of design Certification documentation. Liaise with the staff of other departments in the resolution of Design specific queries.
Be prepared and able to travel within the UK or Abroad.
Suitable candidate(s) would have:
Experience with production of Mechanical 3D Models, 2Ddrawings, manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD 2012 & Autodesk Inventor (minimum of 5 years’ experience of each).
Hands on experience working on small aircraft and helicopters (would be an advantage but not a requirement). However, design experience of same is essential (minimum of 5 years’ experience).
Be educated to HNC or above and have industry experience post qualification
Ability to solve engineering challenges / problems.
Able to work as part of a small project team or work on your own.
Have a clean driving licence and be prepared to undergo security clearance vetting.
