Job Details

The University of Brighton is looking to recruit a Senior Planning Officer to work in the Planning and Performance Department. The department provides strategic management, oversight and delivery of all aspects of the academic and professional services planning cycle. We provide analysis, evaluation and reporting to enable integrated academic and business planning and the development of meaningful KPIs and targets. A key area of responsibility is leading the strategic development of Business Intelligence to deliver management information to support effective planning, monitoring and delivery of institutional strategic priorities.

As the successful candidate, you will work alongside senior members of the department to manage and enhance a range of strategic planning related activities. Primarily leading and co-ordinating the student number planning process; facilitating an integrated approach to planning, working with key individuals and teams across the University. Your role will play an important part in supporting the development of the University’s academic portfolio, have responsibility for recruitment and admissions related analysis and provide specialist knowledge and insight into key factors determining the future size and shape of the institution.

We are seeking a self-motivated, proactive individual with highly developed analytical skills, to join our small and friendly team. To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues and context in which UK Higher Education operates
  • Experience of analysing, interpreting and explaining complicated information and data
  • Experience of undertaking, conducting and coordinating strategic, business and operational planning activities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and clearly with staff at all levels
  • A strong eye for detail

This is a full-time (37 hours per week), permanent position and we welcome applications from candidates looking to job share.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships 

This is a grant-funded scheme which enables companies to access resources and expertise they need to innovate, grow and improve their performance.

KTP enables a highly skilled graduate, known as an Associate, to be employed by the university to work full-time in your company leading a strategic project, with the support of an academic team with expertise relating to the project.  

Projects last between 6 months and 3 years; up to 67% of the project costs are provided by the Technology Strategy Board or another government sponsor.
