£24,098 - £39,329 per annum pro rata - Salary as per SFC Pay Spine if qualified
To start: As soon as possible
We are looking for a well-qualified/experienced engineer to contribute to our level 3 engineering course. The successful candidate needs to have a good knowledge of practical engineering skills and be able to teach both the practical and theoretical aspects of engineering at this level. We are particularly interested in someone who can demonstrate and teach the use of hand-tools, basic machinery (eg lathes, pillar drill, laser cutter, guillotine and folding machine) alongside the theoretical content of the AQA engineering course including areas such as engineering materials; pneumatics; gears (conventional and hydrolytic); power transmission systems; engineering manufacturing systems; designing, assembly, operation of mechanical and engineering systems. A knowledge of CAD/CAM or willingness to learn the college’s systems would also be an advantage as this part of the course is currently being developed.
Initially one day a week, Fridays, there will be the opportunity to increase hours as the course grows and develops. This role could suit a graduate or an experienced teacher. A teacher training programme is available for new entrants to the sector. We would also be interested to hear from practical engineers qualified to HNC level or higher (or with equivalent experience) who would be interested in working as a workshop instructor/technician offering technical support for teachers of engineering.
Closing date: Monday 18 November 2019 at 9am.
Target interview date: WC Monday 18 November 2019.
The College reserves the right to interview early if a suitable candidate applies.
The successful candidates will be required to possess an enhanced DBS certificate to be employed at the College.
