Principal Mechanical Engineer required near Horsham

OTE: upto £60,000

Location: Horsham

To be the technical lead on Mechanical Engineering lead development projects (often first of a kind implementations) associated with the company and to take overall technical leadership for such development projects.

The Role of Principal Mechanical Engineer:

• Leading and taking accountability for the technical activities in a project.
• Working with the Project Manager to define project plans and activities.
• Preparing & presenting the project gate packs (ADR, CDR etc.) for both internal & external review teams.
• Taking responsibility for technical decisions and documenting the design rationale.
• Tracking and reporting on status vs requirements.
• Managing technical risk - project risk and design risk (eg FMEA).
• Managing IP - tracking IP space, creating new IP and supporting the patenting process.
• Driving the analysis and test capability required to verify the design.

To Lead the implementation of mechanical engineering solutions required during the development of new Fuel Cell and Stack products:

• Lead the development of mechanical systems and products by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
• Confirm system and product capabilities by ensuring suitable feasibility and testing methods are implemented.
• Assure product/system fitness for function and robustness by leading the implementation of appropriate validation and verification testing for engineering sign-off.
• Assure product /system compliance with international regulation standards.
• Be the technical authority at project progress and design review meetings.

• Lead the resolution of engineering problems in areas of technical responsibility including support of post-test analysis activity.
• Act as an expert point of contact for colleagues on technical issues related to areas of job responsibility.
