Procurement Category Manager / Construction & Engineering

This well-known UK brand is going through an exciting Procurement and Commercial Transformation, as a result are growing the team significantly by hiring a Category Manager.

Reporting to the Head of Category Management, this role will give you the autonomy to work across a wide portfolio of categories, including Construction and Engineering.

You, the Procurement Category Manager be based in their beautiful offices on the Sussex coast and encouraged to work in a flexible way, in keeping with the organisation’s culture.

What the Procurement Category Manager role involves:
  1. Develop and agree category specific strategies with the Senior Procurement Team, aligning with the Procurement strategy and value management strategies. Deliver sustainable value and minimise total cost of ownership
  2. Work with business leads to understand customer requirements, volume demands, and specifications to inform development of category strategies.
  3. Gather insight and analysis of category/sub-category spend to inform the team and optimise demand patterns
  4. Deliver strategic and tactical activities to deliver aggregation and product/specification standardisation, in order to leverage scale of demand
  5. Actively seek opportunities to continually improve and add value through analysis of market, best practices and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including third party suppliers
The Procurement Category Manager we hope to find:
  1. Strong category management experience ideally in Engineering and/or Construction
  2. Evidence of successful development and delivery of category strategy
  3. The ability to make key strategic decisions on the supplier base you are engaged with
  4. Degree educated or equivalent would be preferable, but is not essential.
  5. Be able to identify and implement negotiation strategies through a multi-function team.
