We are looking for 6 passionate and enthusiastic persons with great people skills to join our Independent Living team in Bexhill.

You will be working as part of a one-person crew to transport medically fit and mobile patients home from hospital, as appropriate, using suitable Red Cross vehicles. Once at home you will ensure that the service user is comfortable, has enough food, the heating is on and their environment is safe.

You will respond to referrals from Clinicians and Community Health Professionals and will be required to have the ability to assess service users' needs, complete and follow a support plan for the individual.


You will liaise with health professionals at the Eastbourne District General and the Conquest Hospitals, responding to referrals in a timely and professional manner.

You will assist the Independent Living Service Coordinator by undertaking duties required to meet the service users' needs in order to re-enable service users to remain in their own home and prevent hospital re-admission.

We have the following working pattern available: 22 hours per week Monday to Friday, 33 hours per week Monday to Friday; and 14 hours Saturdays and Sundays.

The service runs from 10am to 10pm Monday to Friday, and from 10am to 6pm Saturdays and Sundays.

Also, you should be the following:

  • Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent by experience)
  • IT literate
  • Full driving licence holder and experience driving a manual car
  • Have a good knowledge of services provided by the NHS and Social Care
