Calling all registered therapists looking to join a forward-thinking team - you could be an essential part of our fast-paced Responsive Services!

We're throwing open our virtual doors on Thursday 17 September so you can find out more about our Trust, and our friendly and welcoming teams.

In Responsive Services, we work hard to avoid unnecessary hospital admissions, and also support patients through the critical first few days after they leave hospital. This open day webinar will focus on our West Sussex team, and will be staffed by therapists just like you, ready to answer all your questions about what it's like to work with us and our patients.

We have a variety of roles available for registered staff across West Sussex including Horsham, Crawley, Haywards Heath, Worthing and Chichester, and this is your opportunity to ask practical questions about our service and our day-to-day working lives, outside of a formal interview setting.

Our multidisciplinary Community Therapy team provide a seven day service:
  • A rapid response to people in the community who are experiencing acute episodes of ill-health
  • A supported discharge service to facilitate timely hospital discharges
  • Short term support for people who require assistance with activities of daily living
  • A rehabilitation service, including a range of therapies
  • Community rehab for people with long term conditions and frailty

We are looking for a Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Community Therapy team for one year. The main focus for this post will be assessing, treating and monitoring patients with long term conditions and frailty, as well as providing rehab within their own homes. There will be strong multidisciplinary working with the local Primary Care Networks (PCNs), and the post holder will jointly manage, with other therapists, the collective caseload for their specified geographic area. The post holder will need to have experience of working within a variety of clinical settings, particularly the community. Competence in lone working is essential.

Car driver and car owner are essential due to the geographic area covered by the team, which includes Crawley, Horsham and Mid Sussex.

As a member of the team you will have the opportunity to:
  • Receive support from other therapy colleagues
  • Receive clinical supervision from Band 7 Clinical OT Lead
  • Participate in the in-service learning programme
  • Attend the annual SCFT conference day
  • Participate and assist in the implementation of the Calderdale Framework
  • Supervise and support development of other staff outside of your professional group
  • Develop leadership skills through formal and supported training
  • Develop skills beyond the usual scope of practice of your profession
  • Assist in shaping future clinical practice of the therapy team
