Job Details
Apprenticeship in Accountancy
The apprenticeship is to study for a fully funded AAT qualification, with one college day release a week. The role will learn all aspect of an accountancy practice, including Bookkeeping, Payroll, Auditing and Accountancy software. For the successful candidate, the role presents a path to further their career in Accountancy
Working week
Monday - Friday, 09:00 am - 17:30 pm with 1 hour for lunch
Total hours per week: 37.50
Expected duration: 18 months Apprenticeship level: Advanced Level 3 (A level)
Apprenticeship summary:
Duties include:
Financial Administration:
- Electronic Document Management
- Hard copy filing
Companies House:
- Filing client documents with the Registrar of Companies
Bookkeeping:
- Using Sage 50, Xero and Excel preparing client books from source documents
- Completing and filing VAT returns on behalf of clients
Payroll:
- Preparing basic payroll for clients
Audit:
- Support audit department in preparation of files
- Be a member of the audit teams which go on client site audit visits
Client Liaison:
- Communicating with clients by telephone and email regarding their accounting matters
- General office duties in the Brighton office
- There will also be training in Sage 50 and Xero accounting software

Greater Brighton Metropolitan College (MET) was created from the merger of City College Brighton and Northbrook College Sussex. It is the college for our City and our region and draws on 150 years of heritage, history and experience.
