Vacancy description

The apprentice plumber will cover the following duties:

• Understand health and safety legislation and codes of practice for safe working practices 
• Learn all aspects of fault diagnosis, repair techniques; commissioning and de-commissioning of hot and cold water systems, above ground drainage and rain water systems
• Understand installation and testing techniques for electrical components and control systems on plumbing and domestic heating systems
• Understand the science involved in plumbing
• Understand the principles of fuel combustion, ventilation and fluing arrangements
• Understand the principles of high quality customer service
• Understand how to communicate in a clear articulate and appropriate manner.

Things to consider

The work can be heavy and physical.

If you live in our area it will be beneficial for you getting to work.  If you don't already drive we would be looking for  you to obtain your driving licence when you are able to and become more mobile and in turn be able to use our vans.

Training

Training provider: EAST SUSSEX COLLEGE GROUP

Training to be provided

You will be employed by the business and spend one day per week in college in Eastbourne.   The plumbing apprenticeship is a 4-year programme which may be reduced if you have already gained a plumbing qualification or attended a full time course.

You will have 20% of your paid time in 'off the job' learning and the apprenticeship will be completed when you have successfully passed the End Point Assessment which includes:

• Multiple choice test
• Design Project
• Practical Installation test
• Practical application test
• Professional Discussion

You may also have English and maths included in your programme.
