Vacancy description

This is an amazing opportunity to learn all aspects of full property refurbishments which include all trades ie. Kitchen and bathroom installations, painting and decorating, tiling and flooring, plastering, basic electrics and plumbing, conservatories, patios and driveways with a reputable and long-standing company, who are Checkatrade and Trading Standards approved.

This is a family run business who carries out the complete refurbishment package and you will become multi skilled and supported.

Not for the faint hearted as the jobs we undertake can be in any area of Sussex but it is a thoroughly enjoyable job with no two days the same.

Duties to include:

• Assemble pre-packed carcasses of wall and base units
• Install pre-assembled units, level and hang
• Measure, site, and install worksurfaces, cut, mitre and join worksurfaces
• Install electrical appliances, basic plumbing as required
• Lay flooring and tiling
• Tidy up, keep health and safety and clear workspaces available
• Along with all aspects of refurbishments other tasks include
• Painting and decorating
• Plastering and Plaster boarding
• Fitting windows and doors,
• Erecting new walls and making/or adapting rooms.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

• Sense of humour, forward planning an advantage, have decent manners and above all be reliable
• Should be able to understand written instructions and have a very basic level of maths.

Personal qualities

• Have a basic understanding of tools and DIY flat pack furniture
• Family run business who expect professionalism at all times.

Desired qualifications

None, but must be willing to 'learn hands on' with a can do attitude.

The successful apprentice will be required to undertake an initial assessment in maths and English to ensure that they are at a high enough to complete the apprenticeship.

Future prospects

The long term aim will see you self sufficient, so you can work on your own initiative and be given tasks that will still be a challenge but ensure a high quality finish.

Once qualified/competent you will be carrying out jobs from start to finish by yourself or with others when needed.

The Employer is very supportive and was an apprentice himself, he was dismissed 2 weeks before his final exam and was used for cheap labour so promises this will not happen to you!

Things to consider

The work may require long hours depending on workload, this will be flexible depending on hours
allowed.

DBS check will be carried out. Employee to meet in Hailsham everyday.

You will be required to attend day release at the Ore Valley Campus, once per week, term time only. This will start in September 2021.

Wages will be reviewed throughout the apprenticeship.

The working environment can be fun at times, hard going, light hearted with other staff, but jobs will be allocated and are required to be completed by the end of the day.

Our aim is to expand and develop using our own staff. In all our work we produce a high quality finish and work as a team to the highest standards.

• Apprentices will receive a certificate upon successful completion. Awarding Body City and Guilds.
• Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths and English (equivalent to GCSE grade D - E or level 3 - 2) unless exempt.
