Apprentice Purchasing and Office Administrator
We are looking for an individual to assist with work in our purchasing and pricing department as well as supporting the administration of our company website and the running of our head office. The successful candidate will need to have attention to detail, competent IT skills and a proactive attitude.
Weekly wage - £184.80 to £356.40
Working week - Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 17:30.
Total hours per week: 40.00
Expected duration - 24 months

Gardner & Scardifield is a local family owned Builders Merchants, Electrical Wholesalers and DIY Suppliers based in Lancing, but operating throughout Sussex. We have a long and fascinating history of circa 100 years, and have been under current ownership since the 1970’s.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Assist with the administration of reviewing supplier invoices, showing attention to detail to spot any errors
- Assist in the coordination of purchasing across the company. This could involve creating reports, manipulating data and monitoring branch activity.
- Assist with any task required for the continual upkeep and development of the company’s website.
- Assist with the analysis, updates and changes needed on our Product Database
Additional responsibilities will include:
- Be prepared to undertake administrative or other ad-hoc tasks
- Answer phones and deal with queries into the office
- Work closely with our branches and staff to ensure Gardner and Scardifield can provide a complete service to all customers and that procedures are followed, with queries resolved quickly and correctly
- Assist in the preparation of management reports, including for sales and stock
Desired skills
- Great communication skills
- Competent IT skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office packages e.g. Word, and Excel
- Previous experience of working in an office environment is beneficial

- Drivers Licence is preferred
- Strong attention to detail to achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task
Desired qualifications
GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) in maths and English.
Other GCSEs and A Levels are a bonus (or equivalent)
