Vacancy description
Working under skilled supervision, the successful applicant will learn basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and decorating, plastering/tiling, ground works and glazing skills to enable you complete a range of property maintenance tasks including:
- Carrying out repairs to the fabric of a building, e.g. repairing walls, doors, doorframes, skirting board or plaster damage to internal walls
- Assisting with the installation of joinery items, e.g. doors, windows, wall and floor units, skirting, panels and complete sink base units, etc.
- Erecting hoarding to secure premises boundary and carry out repair to floorboards to provide a secure walking platform
- Assisting with refurbishment works to voids properties, e.g. the repair / installation of kitchen / bathroom items
- Understanding and maintaining electrical distribution and safe repair of electrical installation to legal requirements, e.g. replacing damaged sockets, plugs, lighting and fuses
- Understanding and maintaining the grounds and external fabrication of a building, e.g. drainage and guttering
- Understanding and maintaining plumbing and drainage systems, e.g. repairs to WC systems, leaking taps or water testing and unblocking drains
- Assisting with the erecting of dry lining, plasterboard, plaster coats to walls / ceilings and repairs to concrete or screed to floor
- Assisting with the removal and replacement of fractured glass to panels, including cutting and installation of glass
- On all jobs you will need to keep your equipment clean and tidy and tidy up after the job is finished
PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) will be provided (you must provide your own boots). Initially the necessary tools will also be provided, however, long term you will need to provide your own.
