Vacancy description
Key Responsibilities
- Coding and entering purchase invoices onto the accounting system for Eastbourne College Enterprises Limited
- Processing sales invoices for the two schools for the use of the bussing service and for external customers hiring Charity facilities
- Producing supplier payment runs and reconciling supplier statements
- Entering payments received for invoices onto the system
- Reconciling credit card statements and liaising with card holders to obtain receipts
- Transferring school shop sales onto PASS for parent billing
- Running the petty cash and pupil pocket money systems
- Preparing bank reconciliations for the Charity
- Entering and reconciling catering recharges
- Preparing journal adjustments to be processed by the Accounts Manager
- Downloading Trial Balances into the Management Accounts packs
- Preparation of the VAT return for Eastbourne College Enterprises Limited
- Issuing rail warrants to House Matrons for pupils and to other staff for business travel
- Providing holiday cover for the other areas of finance
- Any ad hoc duties as required.
Requirements and prospects

- Good understanding of double entry book-keeping
- Good all round IT skills and experience in working with accounting software.

Desired qualifications
It is essential to have a Level 2 AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting before applying for this role.
Future prospects
This post is for 18 months, initially, with supported training and assessment at college. The successful candidate will achieve an Apprentice Certificate Level 3 AAT Diploma in Accounting which should be a gateway for further career opportunities.

Pension Scheme Details
- After three months service you may be automatically enrolled into the Eastbourne College WorkSave Pension Scheme (details are available from the HR Department), depending on your level of earnings, however you may also choose to opt in to the pension scheme. The College will contribute 5% of your gross salary and you must also contribute 3%. You may choose to opt out of the pension scheme.

- Five weeks annual leave plus Bank Holidays, to be taken by agreement with your line manager.
