0.8 FTE Lecturer for Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma in Film and Broadcast

Based at our Central Brighton campus

29.6 hours per week - 0.8FTE. 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Greater Brighton Metropolitan College as a 0.8 FTE lecturer with course leader responsibility for our Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma in Film and Broadcast. Our Level 3 programme will give the right candidate a rare opportunity to redesign the curriculum to meet employer and student needs in this fast-moving and dynamic subject sector. The aim of the course is to give students a foundation in modern film, TV and broadcast practice and to focus on developing skills that are recognised as in high demand in the local and national creative industries.

If you have course leadership experience, are a qualified lecturer and can deliver outstanding lessons in all or some of the following subjects this could be the ideal position for you; single and multi camera video production, audio production, internet broadcast skills, Youtube and digital marketing, plus skills in key software, in particular; Premiere Pro and Audition.

A willingness to develop, innovate and learn are key qualities for the successful candidate, as is the ability to work with colleagues in the area utilising their specialist skills.

The successful candidate will be joining the MET at a very exciting time in the College's 150 year history as we have just moved into our brand new, state of the art design studios in the newly built and re-developed Pelham Street campus in the heart of the city. We are seeking to appoint an experienced Film and Broadcast Lecturer to deliver an exceptional student experience through the delivery of outstanding teaching, learning and assessment leading to positive achievement outcomes and progression on to higher levels of study, employment, or apprenticeships.  Also to undertake responsibilities for assisting in the Film and Broadcast provision course management, being responsible for the application of awarding/validating body regulations and procedures and upholding academic standards.

You will also be responsible for managing all aspects of the student journey, including student recruitment, tutorial and pastoral support, course induction, curriculum planning, teaching, learning and assessment, feedback to students, monitoring of student progress, management of student records, student achievement, and all associated course and quality related administration.

You will require an academic qualification at Level 5 / Level 6, or professional qualification equivalent in a relevant subject area and a recognised teaching qualification (or willingness to gain one).  You also require experience of working within a Film and/or Broadcast environment and knowledge of curriculum planning and development to meet the learning needs of all students within a possibly diverse cohort. Good written and verbal communication skills and good IT skills are also essential.
