  • Working week: Monday - Friday, 07.30am - 4.30pm
  • Total hours per week: 40.00
  • Expected duration: 36 months

The employer will be interviewing while the vacancy is open so the apprenticeship may start before the closing date.

Your duties will include:

  • Learning to prepare the work area safely with dust sheets etc.
  • Learning to identify and avoid hazards and risks in the workplace and what to do in the event of an accident
  • Learn select use maintain and store paint, tools, wall coverings, and all other equipment safely
  • Learn how to make the most efficient and effective use of resources time and materials
  • Learn how to prepare and plan meetings with clients including having appropriate paint specification and colour information
  • Learn project management techniques in order to keep to schedules for the project
  • Learn product information in order to recommend appropriate products for different situations and scenarios
  • Being able to rectify surface coating and wall covering problems
  • Learn to prepare and strip surfaces using a variety of techniques
  • Learn a variety of different application techniques such as brush, roller, spray and power-assisted rollers etc.
  • Learn to wallpaper using techniques for hanging lining paper, standard papers, digital print and wide width papers
  • Learn to match patterns including internal and external corners

Desired qualifications

GCSE English and maths at level 4/C or higher would be an advantage.

Future prospects

We would anticipate that upon successful completion the apprentice would want to continue
their employment with the company.

Things to consider

Our offices are based in Framfield near Uckfield due to the rural location of many of our projects candidates would need to be mobile in order to get to work and to get to college in Eastbourne, therefore car owner or motorcycle owner. Fuel mileage will be paid in addition to monthly wage.

Included within the remuneration package will be 21 days paid holiday in line with our standard
terms of employment.

We work mainly in the local area on some of the finest properties and country estates in Sussex.

  • Apprenticeship Certificate (Pass or Distinction) for the Painter & Decorator Apprenticeship
  • Level 1 Functional Skills maths and English (equivalent to GCSE grade D-E or level 3-1, unless exempt

You will be employed full time by the company and attend college one day a week at the Eastbourne campus to complete your training. You will have 20% of hour paid time in 'off the job' learning and you will complete your apprenticeship with an End Point Assessment.
