We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Operational Pricing & Underwriting Analyst to join our Underwriting team in Haywards Heath, West Sussex or Salford Quays, Manchester.
 
You’ll support the company in maintaining the operation of the rating and underwriting system, also in the maintenance and upkeep of information from third party suppliers and companies in regard to its transformation into systemised rules, relating to all aspects of the business. The role will also support the regular review of all processes and systems used by FCG, ensuring that they’re fit for purpose by identifying any trends or weaknesses within the current processes.
 
Job responsibilities
 

  • Assisting in the implementation of rate changes and product rules using RADAR/DUCK CREEK as directed by the pricing teams, including external rating tables – Testing of external tables including updates to the MI Node Data Dictionary
  • Maintenance of motor product question sets
  • Rate testing of insurance products as and when required including evidence of all testing performed and the relevant sign off received
  • Run the reconciliation of Radar and DUCK CREEK, providing detailed log of all issues identified
  • Build, maintain and implement test scripts to test changes made to the rate engine and any other third-party systems
  • Investigate failed quotes on aggregator sites, investigation, resolution and implementation of any changes that are required
  • Liaise with third-party aggregators to implement change requests, updating existing and/or new products and testing and signing off the required changes
  • Maintain any rules and enhance/build on the rules and logic around the quote and point of sale journeys to identify improvements
  • Daily monitoring of the internal performance dashboards including escalation if issues are seen and identified
  • Assisting with the production of system documentation to support the company’s rules and logic around third party providers. This will include, procedure manuals and any other supporting documentation
  • Produce detailed documentation around Pricing & Underwriting work stream tickets so that specifications can be produced and supplied to developers for implementation
  • Be the first point of contact for underwriting and technical queries from Operational departments
  • Prioritise work to ensure the department’s Service Standards are achieved
  • Ensure compliance with company and other relevant standards/regulations at all times
  • MID – monitoring the daily report and raising any issues with GTS. Raising failures on Atlas and checking that these have been resolved correctly in a timely manner. Daily monitoring of the Time to Supply score, Reconciliation Reports and liaising with GTS daily, creating a month end snapshot of MID performance
  • Ensure all work is logged and stored on the Product Development Work Log, reviewed and updated where necessary
  • Assist if FOS complaint investigation around increases in premium and supply the relevant information to the Product Development Manager, so that a detailed explanation can be provided to the FOS
  • Any other reasonable duties as required

 

Skills, knowledge & experience
 
Experience

  • CII or working towards
  • Some experience of Excel and data analysis techniques an advantage
  • Some experience of Pricing & Underwriting Systems (i.e. Author, Polaris, I90, RADAR) an advantage
  • Sound experience of personal lines insurance analysis an advantage
  • Sound experience of development and testing changes to Pricing & Underwriting systems

 
Skills

  • SAS skills with the ability to modify an existing SAS programme (using Core SAS) is an advantage
  • Computer literate with advanced Excel skills
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good time management and organisation skills
  • Strong numerical skills

 
Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the company’s data structure and the purposes and uses of different datasets
  • Good knowledge of motor insurance products and the motor insurance industry
  • Solid understanding of the business objectives and operations
  • Knowledge of FSA requirements (including TCF)
