Individual Needs Assistants x 3

20 hours per week, 36 weeks per year

£18,391- £19,767p.a. pro rata.

Fixed term contract until July 2022.

As an Individual Needs Assistant, you’ll be working with students on our Arrow Programme identified as "High Needs".  These students will need 1-2-1 support to help them succeed on their study programme.

Working to meet needs identified on their Education and Health Care Plans (EHCP) you’ll have a wide-ranging role, which could include helping the student by operating learning aids, adapting learning materials, helping them access extra-curricular activities or liaising with parents or carers.  Every student has specific support needs, so you’ll need to be able to be flexible to ensure they get the very best out of the time in college.

Working with these students requires someone special.  Ideally, you’ll have a Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Learning, Level 2 Specialist qualification in a learning difficulty and/or disability and experience of working with vulnerable students in an educational setting.   What’s vitally important is that you understand and promote the principle of inclusive learning and enabling these students to achieve.  You’ll bring your creative problem-solving skills, empathy and diplomatic approach into the classroom.  If you have any additional skills such as Makaton or BSL, that’s even better.

Our Hastings site is a few steps from the train station so it’s easy to reach.  We’ve got on-site Costa and Subway outlets along with our fantastic Coast restaurant.  There’s also our fully equipped gym which is available to staff at a reduced membership fee.

These posts are subject to a DBS check.
