We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced speech and language therapist to join the Community Neurological Rehabilitation Team based in Worthing.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work within the multidisciplinary team and with other speech and language therapists to assess and manage adults with acquired and progressive communication and swallowing disorders. They will manage a dysphagia caseload independently with support from the speech and language therapy team lead.

Access to transport is crucial due to the community nature of the post.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Job summary
a) To be a specialist therapist within CNRT South, providing a comprehensive,
specialist clinical service to clients referred with communication and or
swallowing difficulties.
b) To be an active member of CNRT South and a specialist resource, including
liaison with other SLTs and other professionals external to the service in
relation to specialist information, analysis and advice on continuing care.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • Degree (or recognised equivalent) in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Registered member RCSLT and HCPC
  • Postgraduate and experiential training in relevant areas


Experience
Essential criteria
  • Min 2 years post-graduation in clinical specialism (s) in acquired adult disorders
  • Post basic training and experience in dysphagia
  • Inter disciplinary team working within Acute and Community settings
  • Implementing quality standards, care protocols, risk management and clinical effectiveness measures related to caseload


Skills and Knowledge
Essential criteria
  • Specialist clinician, able to demonstrate credibility, diagnostic skills and in depth knowledge of appropriate assessment and management
  • Demonstrates ability to manage caseload independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication including observation, empathy and listening skills
  • Ability to monitor standards of practice, policies and protocols in accordance with clinical governance strategy
  • Thorough knowledge and practice relating to caseload
