Job overview

If you believe like us that employment supports good mental health and you have the vision to develop a new role in our talking therapies service, we'd like to hear from you.

Time to Talk Health is a patient-focused IAPT service providing mental health assessment and treatment to people with mild to moderate anxiety and/or depression associated with their physical health. As part of our continued development and growth we've created a new role for an Employment Advisor with excellent communication skills and employment law knowledge to support our patients so that they can return to work or achieve their employment goals.

Main duties of the job

This is a varied role managing your own caseload, advising team members and making contacts with employers and partners across West Sussex. As a new position you'll have plenty of scope to develop business opportunities across the county so you'll need to be a driver with access to a vehicle. One of a number of Employment Advisors across the TTT localities, you'll have plenty of peer support while being based within Time to Talk Health.

Enthusiastic and self-motivated with a can-do attitude, you'll need to have excellent interpersonal skills, focused on achieving positive outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and enhance your skills in a rewarding and dynamic environment.

Working for our organisation

We particularly welcome applications from disabled, LGBT+ and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates as we would like our TTTH team to reflect the diverse communities we serve. As a Trust, we recognise the positive value of diversity in providing high quality and culturally competent care; we are a Disability Confident Employer, and benefit from thriving and supportive BAME, Disability, LGBT+ and Religion and Belief staff networks.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will work closely with staff and patients to provide specialist information/advice to therapists in different localities within Time to Talk, as well as managing a caseload of people who have experienced mental health problems who are currently off work, struggling at work and/or who are unemployed and wish to return to work.

The post holder will represent the service at key employment forums in West Sussex and be responsible for maintaining performance in relation to employment and alerting operational leads to excellent practice from other services, providing information and reports to the governance group in order to influence the employment strategy of the service.

The post holder will work directly with all relevant stakeholders: Service users, staff, GPs, employers, Human Resources, Union Reps and Occupational Health, to enable service users to retain or gain employment.
