Telephone Referral Coordinator - 30 hours per week

Are you looking for a new challenge? Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust delivers excellent care at the heart of the community for people living in the coastal area of West Sussex. OneCall Coastal is looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic individual to carry out the role of Telephone Referral Coordinator.

Main duties of the job

OneCall Coastal is a 24 hour/7 days a week service. We work a variety of shifts: 7am-3pm, 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm, 10am-6pm and 11am-7pm. The post holder will be required to work a variety of these shifts, including weekend work over approximately one weekend in every four.

Working for our organisation

The Telephone Referral Coordinator will be based in the OneCall Coastal office in Lancing Business Park, taking referrals for community services and ensuring that all calls and emails are assessed, and that accurate signposting is offered. The post holder will develop the knowledge and capability to refer the patient onward to the appropriate team or service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Telephone Referral Coordinator will work with a Registered Nurse, ensuring that all calls are referred to the appropriate place and data is recorded. All calls to the service need to be answered within one minute.

Essential criteria
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office including proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Outlook •

  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Evidence of well-developed decision making skills
  • Able to prioritise own work load and to relate to the priorities of the manager
  • Experience with the use of telephony or call centre experience
  • Demonstrate good communication skills
  • Demonstration of clear, accurate and precise documentation
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude towards change
  • Able to prioritise enquiries and respond effectively •
  • Demonstrates a calm and constructive approach to dealing with unpredictable situations
