We're looking for a new Ward Manager to lead our Caravelle Unit in West Sussex. As ward manager, the post holder will be responsible for general management of the ward and safe delivery of patient care, including the assessment of care needs, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, setting of standards and the supervision and deployment of staff.

As an active part of the care team, the post holder is expected to provide direct patient care when necessary. It is essential that they can use initiative and work without direct supervision.

They will deputise for the Matron and ensure that appropriate staffing and levels of service are maintained and taking management responsibility for the ward as a whole on a shift by shift basis. The post involves teaching pre and post registration students and NVQ candidates as well as some
ongoing responsibility for project management.

This post involves shift working covering unsocial hours, weekends, some bank holidays as well as internal rotation onto nights.

Working for our organisation

The unit provides a multidisciplinary service that supports individuals with the aim of regaining independence as much as possible. The service objectives are to prevent unnecessary hospital admission and to support timely discharge from the acute hospitals.
