Are you ready to develop your operational management skills within one of the UK's highest performing Improving Access to Psychological Therapy (IAPT) services?

Time to Talk is a high performing psychological therapies service operating across West Sussex that consistently delivers high quality dynamic interventions. We are seeking to appoint 2 Clinical Service Managers for two positions based in Worthing (South team) and Chichester (West team), but travel between sites may be necessary.

One in the West of the Locality which covers the Chichester and surrounding area and the other in the South area which covers Worthing and the surrounding area who, together with our Clinical leads, will continue to drive the service forward constantly building upon the excellent reputation and achievements to date.

Main duties of the job

You will need to have a driving ambition to deliver an expanding IAPT service, excellent communication and leadership skills as well as an ability to function in a team leadership environment that enables junior staff to grow and excel. The Time to Talk service provides psychological therapies to large numbers of people experiencing anxiety and depression and you will have the support of an excellent senior team with great opportunities to develop your own leadership skills.

The post holders will have operational responsibility for the Time to Talk service in the Chichester and Worthing area of West Sussex covering the geographical area. This involves managing staff and other resources on behalf of Sussex Community Foundation Trust

Working for our organisation

Time to Talk is a well-established and high performing IAPT service providing a variety of psychological interventions in West Sussex. The service is split into four teams; North, South, West and Health, the latter covering all geographic regions in West Sussex, for patients with needs associated with their underlying long term health conditions. Each team is led by a Clinical Lead and Clinical Service Manager / Service Manager.

The teams are made up of a deputy clinical lead and deputy manager, senior psychological therapists, cognitive behavioural therapists, counsellors, psychological wellbeing practitioners, employment advisors and administrators.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will ensure effective management responsibility for area service delivery within the service specification, in line with the IAPT manual and underpinned by robust clinical governance processes. The post holder will fully support the service developments both within the team and across the service. They will be responsible for developing partnership working with other services / sectors in area ensuring service is a fully integrated part of health, well-being and community services for area.

Key responsibilities will include contributing to the strategic development within the locality, maximising human and financial resources and the delivery of the key performance and quality indicators identified. This will be supported by high quality communications with all groups of staff.

The post holder will be expected to create an environment of continuous quality improvement, developing clinical practice and ensuring that delivery of care is regularly reviewed, embedding the CQC agenda.

Qualifications and/or Professional Registration
Essential criteria
  • Degree/Diploma in occupational therapy/Nursing/Social Work /Clinical Psychology and Registration on appropriate professional body or Post-graduate degree
  • Clinical/post graduate management qualification or equivalent level of experience


Experience
Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience (3 years or more) and demonstrable achievement in managing health/social care services.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining effective partnerships with stakeholders in the redesign of services
  • Experience of managing large teams through complex projects and change
  • Experience of managing a diverse practitioner team (multi-site)
  • Experience of managing a budget and delivering a service with finite resources
  • Experience of working collaboratively and in partnership with a range of health and social care professionals and patients and carers to plan, develop and monitor services.
  • Experience of auditing, monitoring and evaluating effectiveness of services and use of resources


Desirable criteria
  • Experience of clinical practice in mental health


Skills and Knowledge
Essential criteria
  • An open and approachable style of leadership which can be adapted as necessary to support the motivation staff and delivery of objectives
  • Ability to provide and receive complex and emotive information from staff, service users, and other stakeholders and handle with sensitivity
  • Ability to analyse and interpret performance and financial information, excellent numerical and presentational skills
  • Ability to process and present information clearly, adapting style to suit audience
  • Good project management skills and the ability to see through tasks to their successful conclusion within timescales and budgets


Other Requirements
Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of Mental Health issues with specialist knowledge of primary care, common mental health disorders
  • Knowledge of Primary and secondary health care services and good understanding of health promotion
  • Ability to work independently on own initiative with limited supervision and also as part of team
  • High standard of written and verbal communication skills including ability to problem-solve present information and negotiate effectively with various groups
  • Ability to use IT effectively including ability to produce written and statistical reports
  • The service is committed to provide services between 8am and 8pm and staff are required to work flexibly
  • Full driving licence or ability to move around West Sussex for appointments and Meetings
  • Commitment to the aims and values of the NHS
