Physical Education Coach with swimming specialism and Lifeguarding qualification, Brighton

Required to start as soon as possible, 47.15 paid weeks of the year (term time only).  37 hours per week:  working hours 8am-4pm Monday-Thursday and 8am-3.30pm Friday (with 30 min unpaid break each day).  LGA Scale 5, points 12-17 £22,183-£24,491 Full Time Equivalent paid pro rata.  Actual pro rata salary  £20,015 per annum.

We are seeking a highly motivated, passionate, and skilled individual to join a successful, aspirational, and supportive Physical Education (PE) department at Patcham High School. Potential candidates must be passionate about the power PE, sport and physical activity has on enhancing peoples’ lives. The primary purpose of the role is to support the delivery of curricular and extra-curricular PE lessons and clubs in key stage 3 and 4. There will be a specific focus on swimming provision, but a broad range of experience and expertise in different sports is desirable. Your responsibilities will include leading lessons and clubs and offering both general and bespoke support to students in others. If appropriate you will lead staff swimming CPD.

The successful candidate will ideally hold a recognised pool lifeguarding qualification and ASA Level 2 to teach swimming across all age groups.  If a candidate does not hold these qualifications, a background in swimming and a commitment to complete them is essential (the school would support and facilitate this).   There is administrative duties within the department, including equipment audits, creating inspirational displays and taking responsibility for ensuring equipment and team kits are well maintained, cleaned and stored appropriately. They need to be committed to a fully inclusive approach to teaching and learning in both single sex and mixed sex classes. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience for those seeking to move into education, PE teaching or sports coaching in the future.
