Mechanical Engineer

Our Avionics team is looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer to provide overall critical support on a variety of complex engineering programmes. The portfolio of work would include OE, R&D Projects, Bids and Client Delivery. This is a brilliant opening for anyone who has had experience of mechanical design and analysis and would like further exposure to Aerospace sector.

Working across both Civil and Military programmes, you’ll have the opportunity to further develop your experience and capability within early lifecycle high technology programmes. You’ll gain exposure across emerging technologies which could also include internal programmes which as the development of our next generation SATCOM Terminal or supporting studies to shape the future of aircraft connectivity.

As an overview of the role, you’ll be:

  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, to design, develop, prototype, prove and maintain high quality, mechanical engineering in accordance with stakeholder requirements and specifications, and processes to meet project operational requirements.
  • Creating and performing fundamental mechanical analysis and suitably present this back to the project team.
  • Creating mechanical designs and manufacturing data packs for a variety of products, using PTC Creo in accordance with BS8888 considering design for manufacture, assembly and test.
  • Undertaking conceptual mechanical design
  • Performing theoretical assessment of the design and its associated requirements to ensure that equipment performance requirements are met, including structural, dynamic, thermal analyses and SWaP.

To have success in the role, we would need you to have the following:

  • A competent understanding of the fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering, including stress, vibration and thermal assessment.
  • Experience of Mechanical Engineering Products from conceptual design, through development, verification and validation, and finally through Product certification and/or Product qualification
  • Materials knowledge covering metals, composites and surface treatments
  • Working knowledge of Mechanical CAD, Creo is desirable but not essential
  • Degree qualified or equivalent within a Mechanical or Aerospace/Aeronautical biased Engineering discipline
