- Weekly wage: £184.80 to £356.40
- Working week: 12pm - 8pm Mon to Sat (with two hour break in service between 3 and 5) 12pm - 6pm Sun and Bank holidays
- Total hours per week: 40.00
- Expected duration: 18 months
- Apprenticeship level: Intermediate Level 2 (GCSE)
- Positions: 2 available
The employer will be interviewing throughout the advertisement period so the apprenticeship may start before the closing period.
- The apprentice will undertake all tasks in our busy kitchen usually under the supervision of our head chef or occasionally an experienced chef de partie they will be fully supported both by the kitchen staff, managers and owners and will be fully integrated into our friendly team
- Initially they will learn the basics - safety, hygiene, the importance of cleaning down regularly and how all of the appliances work
- They will learn about the menu and be shown how we expect food to be presented. this will lead to prep and creating sides and desserts
- The candidate will then learn through shadowing, explaining and then doing all aspects of cooking and presentation
- This will lead to other aspects of a chefs role such as ordering, pricing, portion control and best use of ingredients and have input into menu creation
- Occasionally the candidate will get to work with our front of house team to better understand the issues from their perspective

Future prospects
Absolutely. we want to grow our kitchen team with our business as its reputation for fine food becomes established. There will be commis chef and chef de partie vacancies available for anyone who does well.
Things to consider
We are based 4 miles from Hailsham and Polegate and two and a half miles from Berwick Station, in a lovely rural setting close to Abbots Wood. There are no bus or train links beyond Berwick, Polegate or Hailsham. The apprentice will ideally have his own mode of transport or access to lifts.
