Teaching Assistant

Salary amount: NJC 2 - 5 + SEN allowance Pro-rata

FTE:

NJC2 = £18,198 + £1,324 = £19,522

NJC5 = £19,312 + £1,324 = £20,636

Teaching Assistant to work across the across the school from primary to FE. The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting our learners who are deaf and present with a range  of additional needs.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, and caring individual who can become part of our team. Hamilton Lodge School & College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

The successful applicant will be subject to an Enhanced DBS, as well as other safeguarding checks. The successful candidate will be accountable for the welfare of children under their responsibility in line with the school’s Safeguarding Policy.

The role will also embrace equality, diversity and inclusivity matters in order to facilitate a consistent, co-ordinated and embedded approach to the learning of the children. We are delighted to offer this key role as a full-time, permanent contract.

Hamilton Lodge is a Special School and College for Deaf Children with many pupils being week day boarders.

Our students come from across the south and as far afield as Manchester.

We are in Brighton within a ten minute walk to the sea in one direction, and the new South Downs National Park in another.

We have excellent bus links to the train station and city centre.We cater for pupils from 5 to 19 years old and have a Child Centred Approach to communication using English and British Sign Language.

The school has been commended for its quality of care and offers pupils the opportunity to reach their potential through maintaining a positive approach, removing barriers to communication, providing good role models and celebrating achievement.
