Role Overview:
An opportunity has become available to join the Water Resources and Production team which is based in Hardham. The role of a shift controller is to monitor and adjust the operation of the Water Supply works to ensure that it is maintained and operated to be compliant with water quality standards, environmental regulations and health and safety standards

Accountabilities
• Oversee continuous operation of the water supply works
• Undertake basic routine maintenance via WSS and Ellipse
• Undertake site security inspections and understand the importance of security of supply
• Maintain records of plant performance to comply with ISO 9001
• General Housekeeping duties
• Maintain that water quality is fit for supply to protect public health. Shift Controllers take the responsibility for ensuring non potable water as specified by the DWI regulations does not leave our site.
• Raising reactive work as necessary
• Oversee contractor diligence and escalate when required.
• Ensure that chemical deliveries are performed to the H&S standards necessary and ensure appropriate checks are made through chemical testing, that the chemical is to the correct standard.
• Responsibility for adherence of water supply site discharge consents are met as defined by the E.A.
• Respond to high level alarms such as Chlorine Gas Alarms, Fire Alarms, Intruder Alarms etc.
• Ensure our customers are always kept in supply of wholesome potable water

Person Specification
The right candidate must keen to learn and operate complex processes with high quality controls You are required to be willing to work as part of a team to deliver excellent performance by understanding how individual performance affects the ability of the team achieving their wider goals You should be adaptable, flexible, patient, reliable and self-motivated. The ability to talk to and appease our customers is critical. You will have good time management skills and have the ability to make decisions in a high pressure environment. To have the confidence to work effectively and efficiently on your own in important.

Experience and Qualifications
Essential:
• IT literacy and must be comfortable working with IT systems and devices
• Has an understanding of the use of different processes, chemicals and equipment on a Water Supply Works
• Has an ability to carry out chemical tests on site before receiving any chemicals
• Demonstrate an understanding DWI Regulations and Health and Safety Policies and Regulations
• Demonstrate an awareness of ISO 14001 environmental awareness
• Willing to learn, operate to and uphold Company Policies and Procedures Skills and Competencies:


• Competencies assessed against WSRM 403 (Internal Southern Water Competency Tick-sheet)
Must be competent to:
• Licence To Operate and NVQ Level 2 in Water Treatment
• Health and Safety Passport Training (including ADR Licence, Breathing apparatus training)
• Has previously experienced working as part of a successful team
• Proven experience in carrying out investigations and problem solving
• 5 GCSEs including English and Maths with at least one Science based
• Valid UK Drivers Licence
Desirable:
• NVQ level 2 in Water Treatment
• EUSR Water Hygiene Card
