Job Details
Part-Time 37 hours per week, Term Time Only - 40 weeks worked, Fixed Term until July 2022
Based at the West Durrington Worthing and Central Brighton Campuses
Main purpose and scope of the post:
To build capacity to provide small group work to support students with anxieties and existing safeguarding concerns to attend and engage in their learning.
- To manage a caseload of students to offer support with their mental well being or safeguarding concerns.
- To provide an holistic support service for students by working as part of the Student Services team and liaising with other specialists and supervisors as well as effectively collaborating with external agencies to ensure student needs are fully met.
- Represent the College and participate in multi-agency meetings.
- Be a member of the safeguarding team and act as a duty safeguarding officer
You will require a Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a relevant youth services area, and it would also be desirable to hold a Level 3 qualification in counselling and a First Aid Certificate.
You should also have previous employment working with young people and it would be desirable to have had previous employment within an educational environment. Other essential attributes and knowledge include the ability to manage the unpredictability of student needs/issues and effectively ascertain the potential risks to all parties, good working knowledge of associated youth services and other key agencies, knowledge of child protection legislation and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
