West Sussex CAMHS - BAND 6 - Community Mental Health Practitioner

This is an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Practitioner to join an enthusiastic CAMHS team in West Sussex.

The post is 30 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be working with young people and their families who have been referred into CAMHS. The post will involve undertaking initial assessments and developing risk and care plans with young people.

You would also liaise with other professionals and be included in MDT meetings to discuss appropriate pathways for young people.

There will be someopportunity for brief solution focused interventions.

This post offers a Golden Hello, or a Relocation package up to a maximum of £2000. (pro rata applies and subject to terms and conditions. Please see attached Protocol document).

We manage some very complex cases but the team works well and provides lots of support and supervision and team members never feel they are working in isolation even during current remote working.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The role involves undertaking initial assessments with children and young people who present with a range of emotional and mental health difficulties. Assessments involve working with children, their families and carers and their wider support networks to ensure the most appropriate care and treatment pathway.

The role is supported by members of the multidisciplinary team who meet regularly to support case formulation and identifying treatment pathways.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
  • Professional Health or Social Care Qualification (i.e. RMN, OT, NURSE, SOCIAL WORKER)with postgraduate training or experience relevant to child and adolescent mental health or an accredited formal post-qualification training in Mental Health e.g. iapt Or Professional Health Qualification ( RGN, Paediatric Nurse, School Health Nurse) with formal postgraduation qualifications in child and adolescent mental health and experience of working in a mental health setting (as student or other), working with children, young people

EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
  • Significant post qualification experience
  • Experience of working with people with serious mental Health problems
  • Experience of risk assessment of & research into suicide and self-harm
  • Experience of working with self-harm client group
  • Understanding of Clinical Governance
  • Previous experience in the community
