Hours: 28hrs per week term time only. Shifts 3.30pm – 10.30pm Monday to Thursday
(Pro-rata 38 weeks’ term time working + 1 week training + 6 weeks paid holiday)
Hamilton Lodge, a residential school for deaf children and young people, is seeking an Individual Needs Assistant to work up to 4 evening shifts per week during term-times.
An Individual Needs Assistant (INA) is part of the childcare team but has specific responsibility to ensure high standards of care and safety for one particular named pupil or student at the school and to actively promote their development. By its nature this role requires the successful candidate to be committed to developing a nurturing working relationship with children who have a multi-sensory impairment.
This particular vacancy is working with a young person who has multiple needs. She is an active, sociable and vibrant young person who requires specialist support to enjoy after school activities. The successful applicant will be carrying out intimate care. The successful applicant will receive ongoing training and supervision.
The successful applicant will have experience and qualifications in working with children and/or young people. They will be willing to learn BSL (British Sign Language) or develop their BSL skills if they already have them. They will be patient, committed to keeping children safe, and reliable.

Hamilton Lodge is a Special School and College for Deaf Children with many pupils being week day boarders.
Our students come from across the south and as far afield as Manchester.

We have excellent bus links to the train station and city centre.We cater for pupils from 5 to 19 years old and have a Child Centred Approach to communication using English and British Sign Language.
