Job overview

The Dementia Assessment Service operates in partnership with The Alzheimers Society to support people who are having assessments to determine if they have a diagnosis of dementia. The service supports post diagnostic interventions for people and their family friend carers. The successful applicants' remit will be to support staff across all clinical functions and will provide the opportunity to build on existing skills and develop new ones in a supportive and constantly evolving environment.

We are looking for applicants who are enthusiastic, positive, organised and enjoy working as part of a team. You will demonstrate excellent communication and IT skills. Previous experience in an NHS setting or administration would be beneficial however training will be provided to assist with knowledge and competencies. You will be supported with a tailored training development plan and regular supervision and support from senior colleagues and your peers.

Currently the base for this post will be the Harold Kidd Unit in Chichester but the team will be moving to alternative accommodation in the near future at a time and location yet to be determined.

Main duties of the job

To provide a comprehensive range of secretarial and administrative services to the team. To liaise with other departments and services and to respond effectively to enquiries from the general public, service users, referrers and other agencies. To consistently deliver a client focussed service, which promotes good customer service and effective working relationships.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Team Secretary will provide a full secretarial and administrative service, having daily liaison with a wide range of staff at all levels and regular contact with people who use services and their carers, who may at times be distressed or angry. The Team Secretary will be responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of the office environment for the team.
