Vacancy description

An interesting opportunity has arisen to work as a Production Assistant for our central kitchen, an award-winning artisan bakery situated in Littlehampton, West Sussex.

The role entails a wide range of skills that you would expect from a busy commercial kitchen all of which you will be trained to perform to the highest standards.

Tasks include; preparation and production of food, following strict adherence to food safety, cleaning and sanitising work areas, preparing items for distribution and performing tasks with minimum mistakes and maximum control.

Above all we are looking for someone who has a willingness to learn and who takes pride in what they achieve.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Food preparation and production of Turner’s Pies range
  • Working well within a team
  • Packing products for distribution
  • Checking products for quality and reporting products that do not meet the required standards
  • Adhering to our Food Hygiene and Health and Safety rules
  • Working closely with the drivers to load and arrange products where applicable
  • Cleaning and Sanitising

Desired skills

  • Experience of working in a catering or food ‘production’ environment
  • Comfortable with handling, preparing food, long periods of being on foot, some lifting and carrying, as well as other tasks such as cleaning
  • Experience of cleaning (for themselves or others)

Desired qualifications

No specific work experience or qualifications are required as appropriate training will be given.

APPRENTICE BAKERS WILL LEARN

  • Measuring ingredient quantities
  • Making dough
  • How to safely work machinery, such as power mixers, industrial ovens and production lines
  • Managing supplies
  • Keeping production areas clean
  • How to come up with ideas for new products

QUALIFICATIONS AWARDED

  • Apprenticeship Certificate
  • Level 2 Certificate in Baking Industry Skills
  • Level 1 maths and English (if applicable)
