About Us
Our friendly traditional butchers source meat as locally and ethically as possible. Our staff will happily help with cooking instructions, recipe advice and cut and trim to your specific requirements. We pride ourselves on the quality of our produce & the service that comes with it.
The shop stocks a wide selection of meats & poultry and we always strive to source the best possible quality product. Venison and game are sourced from a local gamekeeper.
As well as local and regional produce, the shop offers a personal meat box delivery service as well as a catering & trade service.
Our shop made burgers and sausages are particularly popular with local pubs & restaurants as well our customers as you can always rely on their quality.
Vacancy description
Duties will include:
- Weigh, wrap, and display cuts of meat
- Cut or prepare meats to specification or customer’s orders
- Store meats in refrigerators or freezers at the required temperature
- Keep inventory of meat sales and order meat supplies
- Clean equipment and work areas to maintain health and sanitation standards

Training to be provided
Apprentices must achieve Level 2 Food Safety Award, Level 2 Health & Safety in the Food Supply Chain Award, and Level 2 Knife Skills Award prior to taking the end-point assessment.
This vacancy is an opportunity for an apprentice to learn butchery and the associated skills needed to be a modern butcher.
The apprenticeship is completed in partnership with Plumpton College’s highly regarded Butchery Apprenticeship Department, where the successful applicants will embark on a Level 2 Butchery Apprenticeship, lasting between 12 and 18 months. The course includes all aspects of modern butchery together with additional qualifications in food hygiene and health and safety. The course concludes with an assessment in skills and knowledge before the apprenticeship qualification is awarded.
Apprentices spend at least 20% of their time being trained, mentored and taught in both the workplace and at college. Where necessary, the training includes helping students achieve competency in maths and English.
