Communications Manager
Permanent, Full time
Required to start mid-August (TBC)
We are one of the top-performing colleges in the country, situated in the cosmopolitan seaside city of Brighton & Hove. Working here offers the combination of both a wonderful place to work and a great city in which to live. Our students and staff are colourful, aspirational and hard-working – which is perhaps why 96% of employees would “recommend BHASVIC as a good place to work” and many of our students go on to Higher Education.
Do you enjoy shaping culture, building a community, and enabling change? If so, join our successful college whose mission is to ‘Change Lives Through Learning’ with the vision of being a ‘Contemporary Creative Learning Community’.
This is a new role with the purpose to develop and deliver a comprehensive internal and external communications strategy which reflects our strategic plan and provides all staff, students, parents and stakeholders with regular, meaningful, and consistent information about activity across the college. You will bring together and manage the Admissions and Marketing managers to help deliver these aims.
Reporting to the Assistant Principal for Digital and Communications, you’ll work closely with other managers in this team, and across college, to optimise the student journey from applicant to alumni.
This is a permanent position, working 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday. Start and finish times to be agreed between the successful applicant and line manager, between the hours of 8.00am and 5.30pm.
Your salary will be £36,546 per annum. This salary is within grade 8 of the Support Staff pay spine, on spine point 27 within that grade. This salary will rise to £39,315 per annum over four years, subject to satisfactory performance. Holiday entitlement is 24 days per annum. This entitlement rises to 29 days after five years’ service.

Company
We are a successful Sixth Form College, graded as Outstanding by Ofsted in 2012.
About 50% of our students come from Brighton and Hove, but many come from other state and independent schools throughout Sussex. The same variety of backgrounds, cultures and interests that make the Brighton area unique, also makes the College a lively, stimulating place to work.
There are approximately 2500 students on roll, of whom the vast majority (approximately 99%) follow Level 3 courses (mostly AS, A levels or BTECs) with the remainder following ESOL courses. The vast majority of our students are in the 16-19 age range, and following full-time courses. We have a strong local reputation for the academic success of our students and for our focus on individuals’ needs.
We are very proud of the achievements of our students and very much value the individual contribution that each of our staff make to our continuing success. Our last staff satisfaction survey found that nearly 90% of staff at BHASVIC enjoyed their job.
The College is within walking distance of Brighton town centre, Brighton train station and is on a main bus route. Please note that there is limited parking on the College campus and parking permits are allocated according to the distance you have to travel to work.
