About the role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic junior software developer to join our small but experienced software team. You will report directly to the IT Manager and assist with all functions of software coding and design. Your primary focus will be to learn the codebase, gather user data, and respond to requests from senior developers.  You will support several key in-house developed applications which are coded on modern frameworks whilst also supporting some legacy software and the various tasks required to integrate and migrate the business operations to recently sourced off-the-shelf solutions, you will then work with the team to integrate these with the more current, in-house developed solutions.

To ensure success as a junior software developer, you should have a good working knowledge of basic programming languages, the ability to learn new technology quickly, and the ability to work in a team environment. Ultimately, a top-class Junior Software Developer provides valuable support to the senior developers and solutions architect while continually improving their coding and design skills. Flexible working is available with this role with a minimum of 3 days per week in our offices in Crawley. This role is initially offered on a 9 month fixed term contract.

Day to day responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

• Assisting the Lead Application Developer with all aspects of software design and coding
• Attending and contributing to company development meetings
• Learning the codebase and improving your coding skills
• Writing and maintaining code
• Working on minor bug fixes
• Monitoring the technical performance of internal systems
• Responding to requests from the development team
• Gathering information from consumers about program functionality
• Writing reports

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year of Software Development experience
• Knowledge of basic coding languages including .Net Core, C#, HTML5, and JavaScript.
• Knowledge of Angular is advantageous.
• Basic programming experience.
• Knowledge of databases and operating systems.
• Good working knowledge of email systems and Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly.
• Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment.
• Detail-oriented
• Bachelor’s degree/HND in computer science
