The Recruitment Assistant is key to support the recruitment, scheduling administration and onboarding administrative procedures relating to the recruitment, employment and onboarding of staff.

Your Role

This key role will be pivotal in achieving our growth strategy. Reporting directly to the Deputy Managing Director, this role sets the strategic direction for Facilities, Sustainability, Health & Safety and Security. The role will work with principal stakeholders both inside and outside the organisation to continuously develop policy, related procedures and standards in all aspects of specialist functions. The role will; (i) ensure our standards and performance against key metrics are achieved, sustained, and improved upon; (ii) ensure that our commitment to meet all legal obligations is discharged; and (iii) that ILG's reputation for the promotion of sector-leading practices is established and implemented.
  • Set the strategic direction for Facilities, Sustainability Health & Safety and Security
  • Provide leadership, coaching and training to specialist functions department heads
  • Improve performance through the implementation of relevant management systems
  • Act as the Responsible Person for all health and safety matters across ILG, identifying and responding to current legal and best practice requirements engendering a culture of awareness and pro-active contribution
  • Initiate and oversee a health and safety leadership change programme across the organisation
  • Overall effective management of the budget
  • Effective liaison, support and assistance between security head and subcontractors
  • Ensure adherence to legislation and agreed regulatory bodies' processes and procedures
  • Review and develop ILG's health, safety and wellbeing policies and activity, and ensure consistent implementation across the organisation
  • Work proactively with managers and other key employees to establish and maintain a programme of continuous improvement in the management of specialist functions
  • Ensure that rigorous group risk assessment and incident management systems are in place and followed across the organisation
  • Direct, manage and maintain contact with internal and external clients/customers for feedback on specialist functions
  • Implement systems to ensure internal and external buildings, machinery and equipment is maintained to an appropriate standard
  • Support the facilities manager to procure contractors to undertake alterations to facilities ensuring value for money and all ILG's health and safety procedures are complied with
  • Agree overall budget for premises related contracts for all sites, ensuring costs and service levels are controlled e.g., waste management, canteen facilities, personal hygiene services etc.
  • Co-ordinate all facilities issues relating to the opening of new premises including development and management of the project plan


About You

To join the team, you'll need:
  • Relevant professional qualifications e.g. ESG, health and safety (or equivalent)
  • Significant experience in managing Facilities, H&S, Security and Sustainability including acting as Responsible Person for H&S
  • Recent proven experience of working in a health and safety role at a similar level and bringing about cultural change within an organisation
  • Experience in coaching, training and mentoring to develop team knowledge and expertise
  • Experience of successfully managing projects
  • Leadership experience including providing support, advice and encouragement in colleague's development
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing workplace wellbeing initiatives and how they add value to an organisation
  • Ability to prioritise work to ensure tasks are completed within time constraints. excellent analytical, interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all aspects of health, safety legislation, and risk management.
  • Ability to interpret and provide authoritative advice on Facilities, H&S, Security, and Sustainability
