We are a community trust - this means that we provide care to patients in their homes or in our community hospitals.
Your career as a Healthcare Assistant
You don't need previous experience, just a passion to learn and care for people. We'll train you on the job, supporting you to be the best that you can be. Your training as a Healthcare Assistant will include basic nursing and therapy skills and we'll support you to achieve achieving the Care Certificate.
With experience and further training, you could further your career in health care opening opportunities to train as an Assistant Practitioner or Nursing Associate. With the appropriate qualifications and experience, you could also go on to train as one of the many degree-level healthcare professionals such as a Nurse, Podiatrist, Midwife or Therapist.

Main duties of the job
Our community services are based across the county in locations such as Shoreham-by-sea, Lancing, Worthing, Rustington, Bognor, and Chichester.
These services include our Primary Care Network Teams and Responsive Services.
You could join our Primary Care Network Teams, sometimes called Community Nursing Teams, supporting patients with nursing care in their own homes. We undertake health assessments of patients' needs and provide support managing their long-term conditions and end of life care.
We also have vacancies in our Responsive Services Teams where you will assess and care for patients with urgent care needs, helping to keep them out of hospital.

Skills and personal characteristics needed to join us as a Healthcare Assistant
To be a Healthcare Assistant, you'll need to be:
- caring and kind
- cheerful and friendly
- willing to be hands-on with patients
- willing to do personal care tasks (washing, toileting, etc)
- able to follow instructions and procedures
- able to work in a team but use your own initiative
You'll also need:
- communication skills, including listening
- organisation skills
- observational skills
To work in our PCN and Responsive Services teams, you will need to be a car driver with access to a vehicle you can use for work.
