Job description

Little Green Pig is excited to be recruiting a new Development & Partnerships Manager to help support the organisation as we grow.

We are a writing and mentoring charity for children and young people. For over 10 years Little Green Pig have been offering a programme of free creative writing projects for children and young people in Brighton & Hove and more recently across Sussex. We work in and out of schools, exploring writing in all its forms, giving children the time and space to express themselves and celebrating their creativity and imagination. We focus our work in areas of high deprivation, with children who might live in challenging circumstances.

Overview
We are looking for an exceptional fundraiser to support Little Green Pig’s work with children and
young people across Sussex.
• You will be a confident and organised forward planner with an ability to respond to
opportunities with clarity and vision
• You will drive great fundraising, with an entrepreneurial approach to income generation.
• You will be an excellent communicator, managing relationships with a wide range
of funders, partners and key stakeholders, and maintaining and developing new
relationships as well as overseeing our communications strategy


Key responsibilities:
Fundraising, maintaining strategic partnerships and overseeing communications and events


Fundraising, finance and partnerships
• With the Director, assess funding priorities and implement an agreed fundraising strategy to
generate funds to cover Little Green Pig’s costs and deliver an exciting programme of work
• Create, manage and develop a varied portfolio of trust and foundation relationships,
corporate partnerships and individual donors in line with the agreed fundraising strategy
• Raise income from trusts and foundations, government and lottery sources, companies, and
individuals to contribute towards the fulfilment of the income budget set by the Board and
Director
• Network within the corporate and not-for-profit communities, and develop strong links with
existing and potential supporters
• Report back to funders in a timely and thorough manner
• Encourage giving in tax efficient ways e.g. Gift Aid etc
• Plan and oversee other fundraising events throughout the year
• Support the Director and Administrator as needed to ensure robust financial planning and
management

Communications and marketing
• Work with the Director and Board to set a clear communications and marketing strategy for
the organisation, and work with the Administrator to deliver a regular mix of communications to
include website, social media, newsletter and asset creation
• Oversee the LGP website and work with the Administrator to keep content relevant and up
to date, and oversee brand management
• Write press releases and seek opportunities to feature our work across various media
• Act as an advocate and ambassador for Little Green Pig at events and media opportunities
where required


General Duties
• Participate in a process of continuous evaluation of the organisation’s effectiveness in
meeting its business plan, aims and objectives
• Maintain an awareness of the literature education sector regionally and nationally
• Represent Little Green Pig at relevant networking meetings
• Attend staff meetings, and board meetings when required

Person Specification
Essential
• A minimum of 2 years’ fundraising experience in the arts, youth, education, or charitable/voluntary sector
• Experience of leading on the cultivation and approach to potential funders and donors through well-crafted applications and pitches
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills; ability to build strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders
• Experience of measuring impact and evaluation, and writing bespoke progress reports in accordance with funders guidelines
• An awareness and understanding of the contexts in which Little Green Pig operates
• A genuine passion for and empathy with Little Green Pig’s mission, vision and values
• Ability to work on own initiative, highly organised, excellent time management skills
• IT literate, experienced in maintaining up to date records and reports

Desirable
• Experience of delivering a communications and marketing strategy for an organisation
• Experience of running fun and effective fundraising events
• Experience of writing press releases and dealing with the media
• A strong network of contacts within the corporate and not for profit sectors and a range of potential supporters
• Experience of working with people from a broad range of backgrounds and communities, including young people and volunteers
• Experience of working for an arts charity
• Experience of reporting to and working with a Board of Trustees
• Knowledge of the Brighton & Hove and East and West Sussex area

Terms and Conditions
Post title: Development & Partnerships Manager
Reporting to: The Director
Hours: 22.5 hours (3 days, must include Wednesdays and Thursdays as whole team days at our Central Brighton office plus one day from home to be agreed).
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required, for which you will be given time off in lieu.
The post also involves travel across Sussex and occasional travel nationally.
Salary: £30,000 pro rata Probationary period of 3 months
Holiday entitlement: 28 days pro rata per year (17 days plus 5 bank holidays)
Pension entitlement: 5% employer contributory pension with 3% employee (after 3 months)
