Job Details
Description -
This is a 6 months contract role.
- Part of the Production department and responsible for inspection, assembly and unit testing of Linear Accelerators and associated sub-assemblies and products.
- The production assembly activity actively build and unit tests a wide range of electro/mechanical sub-assemblies and systems.
- The assemblies are built to controlled work instructions and drawings.
- Where required the assemblies may be tested to a Production Test Schedule (PTS).
- Both the assembly and test activities may necessitate the use of specialist tools or test equipment as specified within Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions, drawing package or Production Test Schedules.
- Device History Records (DHR) are compiled and completed during assembly and testing processes.
- Test results are recorded on results sheets which form part of the PTS, these results are filed in the relevant machine log book, serial numbers of test equipment used shall be recorded on these results sheets.
- Certain sub-systems shall have DHR packs raised and completed as detailed in the relevant work instructions.
- Faulty components and non-conforming material are rejected using the NCR procedure.
Responsibilities -
- Responsible for the assembly and test of the product to the drawing specification, ensuring all build and test documentation used is the correct issue as issued.
- When material or assembly quality problems are identified an NCR must be raised and the appropriate short term corrective action taken (i.e. repair or reject), ensuring the NCR process is followed.
- If for any reason the specification is found to be incorrect or sub-standard then a change request must be raised to identify the problem so appropriate development actions can be taken to resolve the issue.
- Contribute to new designs, assembly and test methods where applicable.
- Assembly staff are made responsible for the quality of their own work following a final assessment and are then authorised to use a personal SI stamp for verification of their own work.
- Working as part of a departmental quality team will contribute to maintaining and improving production methods and processes.
- Trained assembly staff are responsible for the production testing of assemblies. They will follow the production test schedule and are then authorised to use a personal ST or QC stamp for verification of the assembly.
- Designated trainers are responsible for training other operators in applicable assembly and test procedures.
- Assembly staff are responsible for ensuring that all product passed through complies with workmanship standards.
- Assembly staff are responsible for ensuring all equipment used, which requires calibration, is within the calibration period.
- Assembly staff are responsible for ensuring that all substances used which have a shelf life are within the expiry date stated.
- Where required, ESD precautions must be followed.
- All Assembly staff have a responsibility for the protection and safety of equipment, product and colleagues.
Authorities -
- Complete tasks and documentation where covered by current training records.
- Complete non-conformance reports and sign off tasks where covered by current training records.
Relevant Knowledge, skills and competencies -
- Experience in a manufacturing environment assembling complex systems or commissioning complex systems.
- Appropriate City and Guilds or equivalent qualification in electro-mechanical engineering.
- Diligent with good attention to detail with drive to complete tasks.
- Competence in mechanical handling and safe methods of working.
