Virgin Atlantic is looking for a confidently experienced Senior Business Analyst to join Virgin Atlantic’s Transformation function in a senior capacity. In this exciting role, you will be responsible for conducting effective analysis to support technology and business process changes across the Airline.

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will clarify, define and evaluate business problems, opportunities and requirements for change in a manner which supports the identification and delivery of solutions which deliver maximum value to Virgin Atlantic.

You will also be responsible for coaching and mentoring new and lesser experienced Business Analysts on various tools, techniques and project delivery frameworks in use at Virgin Atlantic, alongside being the lead BA on large projects / programmes of work. You will actively lead Working Groups and play an active part at our Community of Practice events.


Day to day

Some of your key responsibilities as our Senior Business Analyst will be:

• Clarify, define and evaluate business problems, opportunities and elicit requirements for change ensuring relevant user requirements (covering functional, non-functional, technical and general) are documented, organised, prioritised, testable and achievable.

• Build and maintain effective working relationships with key partners at various levels of the business, third party suppliers and other internal groups to ensure a successful delivery.

• Handle and communicate business requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

• Work closely with the Project Team(s) to ensure requirements and solution scope remains aligned and focussed on delivery of business benefits throughout the project lifecycle.

• Select appropriate approach to conducting analysis for projects (or investigative studies) of high complexity and agree approach with project collaborators.

• Assess, communicate and support impacts of proposed solution within the organisation (people, organisation, processes and I.T.).

• Validate proposed technical solution designs and test approaches to ensure alignment with requirements and business needs.

• Carry out comprehensive peer reviews of artefacts completed by colleagues within the BA Practice, providing constructive feedback in a way that will help improve BA deliverables and competencies.

• Support the Business Change Manager in providing mentoring and knowledge transfer to the team. You will be an active member of the Senior BA network and will work with your colleagues to disseminate standard methodology to the wider BA Community, leading by example.


About you

Are you passionate about bringing along fresh new ideas?

You might come from a Senior BA role or perhaps a Business Analyst role, looking for your next step in your career.

In addition to the above, we’d love for our successful Senior Business Analyst to demonstrate the following:

• Solid experience of planning/conducting business analysis and managing requirements using a variety of standard methodologies.

• Business Analyst experience within waterfall project environments along with a good solid understanding of the methodologies (e.g. Scrum) and associated techniques.

• Showcase current or historical contribution towards a community of practice through mentoring and coaching others

• Superb communication and interpersonal skills are a must which will enable you to build and maintain relationships with people at all tiers of the organisation.

Alongside the above we’re looking for the following to be successful in your application:

• International Diploma in Business Analysis (a.k.a. ISEB) or an equivalent BA qualification.

• Impact mapping;

• Ability to create mock-ups / wireframes;

• An understanding of GHERKIN and how to write test scenarios in this language;

• Change Management experience or familiarity with PROSCI methodology could be beneficial

• An awareness of developments in the wider BA community, outside of Virgin Atlantic’s practice.
