Senior Engineering Manager - terminals

Are you our next Senior Engineering Manager? Due to an internal promotion we are looking for someone who can help us redefine what's possible for engineering.

The Engineering team deliver what matters. They protect, maintain, and repair our infrastructure. From the electricity that powers this place. Giant plant rooms that heat and cool the airport. To the specialist equipment on the airfield too!

What is the role?

The Senior Engineering Manager - Terminals is accountable for providing leadership and coaching to engineering teams including Terminals, Property, Car Parks, Surface Transport, Engineering Support and Asbestos. Working together with other teams you will improve contract management and own financial decisions related to the Terminals and Property engineering team.

As Senior Engineering Manager - Terminals you will be responsible for delivering a safe and stable operation. Despite constant challenges you will achieve compliance and regulatory standards.

 What will you do?

  • Accountable for the maintenance and reliability of the Terminals and Property asset base with an annual maintenance budget of circa £10m.
  • Direct line management responsibility of 5 direct, 2 indirect reports.
  • Accountable for ensuring all LEPC core service standards are achieved by minimising asset downtime.
  • Responsible for managing the department budget ensuring financial targets are achieved.
  • Accountable for the management of facilities contracts' (£6.5m) EHS, statutory and contractual KPI compliance.
  • Responsible for contractual scope, tender negotiations and contractor selection.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of asbestos across the campus.
  • Sponsor for all Terminals and Property and Surface Transport related projects and asset replacement works.

  • Knowledge & understanding of positive Unions and employee engagement.
  • Proactive leadership to promote a strong health and safety culture, protecting employees and contractors.
  • Commercially balanced - value: cost, process and people.
  • Experience of negotiating complex service contracts that meet budgetary targets.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for property assets e.g. LEPC (Lifts, Escalators and Passenger Conveyors) assets, Water Quality (ACOP L8) and public health, Health and Safety at Work Act, CDM requirements, Electricity at Work Regulations, etc.
  • Good working knowledge of Safe Systems of Work and regulatory and statutory compliance (e.g. electrical, confined spaces, hot works, etc.)
  • Experience of working with a CMMS and asset management processes including planning, KPIs (including CSS), PDRs, and asset management/replacement
